Q: All this talk about cholesterol – so, are we NOT supposed to eat any eggs at all? I hear stupid things like we can only eat 3 eggs per week, and things like that, — is that true? If not, then how many eggs can we eat per week? What about shrimp/prawn – i heard they too are full of cholesterol, so how many times a week can you eat a full meal of tiger prawn/shrimp?What about lamb? That’s my favorite! How many times a week can you eat lamb? Does lamb have a lot of cholesterol?thanks in advance!
A: Cholesterol is not the enemy, we need cholesterol in our diets and our bodies are quite capable of getting rid off excess cholesterol. You can eat an egg every day, poached, boiled, srambled…you just dont have butter or cream added to it, or serve it with hash browns and greasy bacon…shrimp and seafood is an excellent choice of food groups, its how you prepare it, dont have creamy sauces or cook seafood deep fried, Lamb is iron as with all red meat, eaten in moderation is AOK, not with gravy all over it, and dumplings and lots of roast potatoes etc….or cooked in fat, eatened lean is good for you with vegies. So dont worry as long as you eat these food goods correctly & in moderation there is no harm and they are very good for you.
