Trying to quit ambian and other sleeping pills.. How long without sleep?

Q:Been 2 days with no ambian or any OTC sleep meds. Can’t sleep for nothing. I need to quit taking them and because I have a 5 day weekend I thought it would be a good time to stop taking them. How long does it take to not be dependant on them anymore?

I also was taking ambien and I just quit. It took a couple of days to actually get some sleep. I found going to be at the same time and getting up early helped somewhat. I had a hysterectomy in February and my ob/gyn told me that sleepliness was one of the side effects. The ambien put me to sleep, but I became addicted to it so to speak. Good luck to you!
eat bananas, they may make you sleepy.milk/dairy may make you sleepy as welllook into all natural Melatoninhttp://archives.cnn.com/2000/health/alte.they come in 3-5mg pills. all natural. inexpensive, too!sleep tight!
When stoping any meds always refer to the package directions to stop. Once you have I am not sure how long it stays in your system. Call a pharmacist and ask, they will know.As far as sleeping goes, ask the pharmacist when you might be able to take something more natural. Melatonin may help as well as Rest EZ(Melaleuca product), also Valerian Root, Karva Karva and Chamomile tea. It is best not to mix these with Ambian as there could be some interaction. If your iron or magnesium is low, this can also affect sleep patterns. Although, the only way to know is a blood panel. Try something natural once your system is clear of the ambian. Also, my chiropractor says that a glass of red wine before bed is helpful for some. Good luck, I know what it is like to loose sleep.
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixeddaily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can becured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz usefulfor getting sleep.
You probably shouldn’t quit cold turkey (no pun intended) I cut them in quarters and tapered down that way, a 1/4 at a time. Varify with ur doctor.
