Can you help me with an old fashioned cough remedy?

Q:Hi, I’m looking for a good old-fashioned cough syrup. I know that the ingredients are things like hot whiskey, lemon, honey, etc. but I don’t know how to mix and if I’m forgetting some other beneficial things. Would welcome any tried and true homegrown recipes. Thanks!
