Q:Is massage therapy recommended. Can I have it done on a monthly basis. Is this recommended by GP? Or do they go for drugs instead?

There is a simple answer to your question. You have no bones in your midriff there fore all the muscles hold up the body. When the muscles in your back become weak they begin to hurt. Do some back exercises to strengthen the back muscles. Then you can easily carry 4 pound and more
You have not given your age, but i think you are a senior citizen. There is no medicine for the problem, but if you have a good hunger you can use cocoanut or pure ghee drawn from curds in your lunch/dinner. That will fill some gap in your spines. You should do light exercise to get flexibility in muscles. It should be done under the guidance of an expert so that your problem must not worsen and you do it without any difficulty.Massage before exercise is the best thing. Use Mahanarayan Tel. It is ayurvedic.Heating pads also give relaxation.
sure massage therapy is fine- you dont need a referral from your GP. you can get it done once a month or more often if you need it. your GP should be fine w/ massage —and yes, you probably need to strengthen your back & your abs if lifting 4 pounds hurts your back. that’s honestly not heavy at all. lifting 20 pounds, sure that is getting up there, but 5 pounds is a bag of groceries, or your purse if you load it up.going to a chiropractor can be helpful too. most insurance companies pay for this & you often dont need a referral either (many GPs are fine with this too.)good luck
haha I am a mailman,I wish I had that luxury to go to massage therapy.I carry heavy bags every working day,not to mention lifting heavy trays of mail also every day and packages. A lot of mailman drink to ease their aches and pains if that is any help. Ibuprofen, aspirin gets eaten like candy pretty much in post offices throughout the USA. Getting older,it will only get worse. The last time I checked their is no cure for old age, just drugs and alcohol.
Ask someone massage the affected area with herbal oils using knuckles and increasing pressure slowly. After a few minutes you will feel less discomfort. This gets rid of tension and relaxes the muscles in that area. Every time you lift something, remember to bend your knees first, this will prevent your lower back from getting tense causing damage to your spine and back muscles. Never twist while lifting this can have bad effect on your vertebrates. Avoid lifting heavy objects Do not sit in couches, always sit in firm chairs supporting the lumbar area with a pillow. This will help you keep your waist and lower back in the proper position. Apply St. John’s wort directly to the back area. CAUTION: Do not suntan, this oil makes your skin very sensitive to the sun.
Not a good idea to carry heavy bags at all no matter what!
u should take it easy,go to the the doc,not lift heavy things till your back is healed
