Apart from taking omega3, is there anything else to help reduce pain in arthritic joints?
Q:I don’t want to keep on taking pain kilers. Excercise sometimes helps, but anything for too long makes the pain worse. I eat a fairly balanced diet, if on a limited budget. I am only 53 and worry that my lifestyle is already affected by pain. Any advice would be helpful.

My mother-in-law suffered from Arthritus and we tried a number of things. One of the most effective was Emu oil rubbed onto the painful area. You can order it online.Another very simple and cost effective temporary solution was warmth.
Try Emergen-C with MSM. Many people find it extremely effective. It has a highly bioabsorbable delivery system…much better than most MSM products. It comes in a powder which you mix with water or juice. It doesn’t taste bad…kind of like a fizzy, slightly salty lemonade. You should take at least one packet a day, more if you are having a lot of pain. I’ve known people to drink as many as 3 or 4 packets a day when they were really hurting. Once you get the problem under control you won’t need that many, but you need to continue with a daily maintenance dose to avoid flare-ups.I have a preventive medicine physician friend who regularly recommends this to his arthritic patients and they have reported back very favorably on the benefits. Most good health food stores will carry it, but you can also order it online. There are other Emergen-C products, so be sure you get the one with MSM.

Shark cartilage from Seagate.com …Also drink plenty of water. It is actually dehydration that can cause joint pain. Go on a high protein low carb diet. No corn peanuts or wheat. Juice carrots with fresh ginger and raw garlic. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory. Take alot of ant-fungals. Fungus is a bad thing and causes the body to get sick. Research all this on the internet. try taking Bromelain (1000GDU) Its an enzyme found inpineapple and papaya, it reduces inflammation. I started taking it after I had a bout of tendinitis, and found that naproxen didn’t agreewith my stomach. I find that Jarrow makes the best. Glucosamine/ Chondroitin Sulfate is another supplement that had had good results .
