I need to get better control over my breathing, any suggestions?
Q:I want to know how to get that really DEEP breathing that comes from way down. Ironically, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but this is probably the only time it’s been even remotely possible. I’ve cut down from smoking almost five packs of cigarettes a day to less that half a pack in only 2 and a half months. So now, I’m not hacking all the time. Yay!
More Answers to “I need to get better control over my breathing, any suggestions?“Sounds a bit of a ‘furphy’ you cutting down from that many to half a packet.you should be able to quit altogether. To deep breathe correctly, put your hands on your diaphragm and when you inhale thru your nose you should feel your diaphragm pushing your hands out, when you can in hale no longer, then open your mouth and exhale slowly, all the way, (your hands will be flat against your diaphragm by now.)Do as many of these as you can, and whenever you think about it.
Best breathing is diaphragm breathing. With this you inhale without you stomach showing any signs of inflating. So keep your stomach level and breathe deep. i am very happy you cut down on smoke give it up completely and then write to me i will teach you how to do Pranayam. [email protected]
Way to go on the smoking! As a Martial Arts Instructor I teach breathing as one of the fundamental element of training, that of being centered. You need to maintain a relaxed yet straight posture.no slouching! (It inhibits your ability to take in and then let out larger quantities of air.)Close your eyes and relax, holding your hand across your stomach. You don’t want your stomach to move, you want your breath to come from DEEP DOWN. It’s called Diaphramic Breathing.Inhale 1-2-3-4-5Hold 1-2-3-4-5Exhale 1-2-3-4-5Keep practicing and you’ll be there in no time. And the Holidays are coming up so use the breathing to help you relieve stress and also to help keep you from going back to smoking more. If you find you are having trouble with the smoking then see your doctor. He can prescribe you something called Wellbutrin or Bupropion in its generic form. I’ve seen it work wonders for friends of mine who were former smokers.Good Luck to you.
Yoga, but first quit all the way. I did after 25 years of anywhere between one and four packs a day, so don’t even try to think of any excuses. Don’t use patches or gum or anything, just quit, that’s the only serious and reliable way.
