2011 NFL Season Did You Know – End of Season Edition

The 2011 NFL regular season is over and with that the fantasy season is over. Hopefully it was a good season for your team but win or lose it’s never hurts to look at things with fresh eyes right after the season is over. Here is our final installment of “Did You Know” for this year which covers the full regular season even if week 17 means nothing to most fantasy leagues. Below are 46 things you may not have known, one for each year of the Super Bowl (cheesy? yes but this is still some good stuff to know)

Matthew Stafford and Eli Manning threw for 5,038 and 4,933 yards respectively this year That’s good for 5th and 6th most all time in a single season No team had more dropped passes this year than Detroit who dropped 46 of Stafford’s throws I just need to point out that Eli was my QB sleeper this preseason Of all regular starters, Aaron Rodgers was the only QB not to lose all fumble all season From week 4 on Arian Foster averaged over 99 rush yards, 4 receptions, 50 receiving yards and a score per game. Without any bonus points that’s 24 points per game in standard PPR scoring formats Roddy White led all wide receivers in targets with 175 He also led in drops with 15 Jimmy Graham topped all tight ends with 146 targets And just to cover every position Darren Sproles led all running backs with 107 targets Sproles also set the record for most all purpose yards with 2,696 Antonio Brown was 2nd with 2,211 Sproles also had 7 receiving touchdowns No other back had more than 3 Sproles didn’t make the pro-bowl Really? How could he not have made it Ray Rice led all players in yards from scrimmage with 2,068 Devin Aromashodu was targeted 78 times this season He only had 26 catches From week 3 on Victor Cruz totaled 80 receptions and 1,519 yards That’s only 7 less receptions and 45 less yards than Calvin Johnson Johnson did have 3 more touchdowns I wrote an article earlier in the season calling Dez Bryant over rated Bryant had 63 catches this year He only dropped one pass David Akers set the record for most points in a season by a kicker this year with 166 He also had 11 more field goal attempts than any other kicker (52) LaDainian Tomlinson has the record for points scored for all positions with 186 in 2006 Chicago’s Robbie Gould was 6 for 6 in attempts over 50 yards this season He was only 6 out of 10 on attempts between 40-49 yards Matt Bryant led all kickers in accuracy at 93.1% That’s 5 points just on kickers! In 2010 Marcedes Lewis scored 10 times In 2011…… none To say Brent Celek got off to a slow start this season is an understatement He had a total of 9 catches for 73 yards and no scores through the first 5 games That’s 14.6 yards and 2 catches per game In the last 11 games of the year he had 53 catches for 738 yards and 5 scores That’s 67 yards and just under 5 catches per game Green Bay gave up the most pass yards per game with 299.8 They also led the league in take turnovers with 38 (tied with San Francisco) San Francisco only gave up 3 rushing touchdowns all season One was in week 16 and 2 in week 17 To finish it off, the Super Bowl is in Indy this year. At least the fans in that town will have something to cheer for while they wait to draft Andrew Luck That’s that last crack I will make on Indy…… this season
