5 of the Best Concerts Coming to Rochester, New York, in 2012

Rochester, New York, is home to plenty of fun venues at which to see great concerts. The 2012 music season is destined to bring some big names to the area at both indoor and outdoor venues. Most musical tastes can be whetted with these upcoming shows.

Auditorium Theatre – Bryan Adams in January

Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is making a comeback on his new acoustic tour. In 2010, he released an album with stripped-down versions of his classic songs, such as “Everything I Do” and “Summer of ’69.” Catch them live at the Auditorium Theatre at 885 E. Main St. on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets run from $37.50-77.50.

Main Street Armory – Rover’s Morning Glory in January

Fans of the syndicated Cleveland-based morning show “Rover’s Morning Glory” will love seeing their favorite radio personalities in person. Meet the Miss Morning Glory 2012 Calendar Girls while enjoying performances from favorite alternative rock performers Everlast, New Found Glory, and Four Year Strong. Tickets run $10-20 for the show on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The Main Street Armory is located at 900 E. Main St. in the city of Rochester.

Water Street Music Hall – Joe Louis Walker in March

The 16-and-older crowd will enjoy an evening of the rockin’ blues when Joe Louis Walker takes the stage at the Water Street Music Hall on Sunday, March 18, 2012. This soulful guitarist once shared the stage with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Thelonious Monk and recorded with B.B. King and James Cotton. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets run $12-15. Water Street Music Hall is located at 204 N. Water St. in downtown Rochester.

CMAC – Yanni and Lady Antebellum in June

The Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Center (CMAC) located on the campus of the Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua is an outdoor venue that provides a sense of intimacy with your favorite performers at a reasonable price. Choose to sit down in the pavilion or to lounge on the lawn. Their big concerts for the summer of 2012 include Yanni and Lady Antebellum.

Yanni is a New Age instrumental artist who is touring in support of his first original album in a decade, “Truth of Touch.” Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Tickets are $45, $65, $85, or $125.

Multiple Grammy-award winning country pop stars Lady Antebellum will take the CMAC stage on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Opening acts include Thompson Square and former Hootie and the Blowfish front man Darius Rucker, starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for this show, sponsored by GAC, are $30, $49.50, and $59.50.
