The City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg Fire Department are sponsoring the 73rd Annual Labor Day parade, Monday September 5, 2011 at 1 p.m. Julie Wright will be the mistress of ceremonies, traffic reporter for WTOP and part of the Fox Morning News Team. The parade will include high school marching bands, costumed characters, cars, fire engines, horses and clowns. It will proceed through East Diamond and Russell Avenues of Old Towne Gaithersburg.

Now let’s talk about Ayers Creek Adventures, located on Ayers Creek in Berlin Maryland. It is located on a scenic waterway that has low public traffic. Visitors can access the location from Assataague Road (Route 376) and it is a great place to visit for both Ocean City inhabitants and Assateague islanders. It is a family owned business. Every tour is led by experienced Kayak and canoe guides. Participants will learn about the history of the area, explore the waterways of Ayers Creek and learn about wildlife. Miniature golf anyone! Old Pro miniature golf located in Ocean City, they have been in business for forty years. Visitors will enjoy seven interesting and exciting golf courses in seven locations. Also fun can be had year around on the indoor golf course located on 68rd street in Ocean City. They also provide two arcades as well as a snack bar. In addition Glen Echo Park is holding its 6th annual student art show. It is presented by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for arts and culture. It is free to the public and will take place in the Popcorn Gallery. The artwork that will be featured will include painting, drawing, photography, pottery, jewelry, glass, sculptures and more. The exhibit will be open on Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day Monday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.. The opening reception will be held on Saturday August 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m..
