A Portrait of Racism

I’m quite beguiled by the burning cauldron within.

Your seething hatred only paralyzes you with spite.

Why do you despise the color of my skin?

Why is it that with anger and harsh words you fight?

You dare to denounce my humanity, my very existence?

Espousing that you are somehow far superior!

Tell me, apart from my color, what is the difference?

What is it in me that would make me so inferior?

You have no answer to share, none to be found!

What points you may share are totally baseless!

Even an innocent child would know it is not sound!

It is wrong to have contempt for many colored faces.

Alas, you and your folk are not alone in how you see.

Staring in the mirror, I know there are many racists who look like me.
