A Show Whose Name Speaks for It

Growing up, I have always been a fan of Nickelodeon. Some of my favorite shows include: “All That,” “Kenan & Kel,” “Clarissa Explains it All,” and most recently “Spongebob Squarepants”. Recently, I came across a show that truly is “Victorious.” “Victorious”, stars Victoria Justice, along with Elizabeth Gillies, Ariana Grande, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett, Daniella Monet, and Avan Jogia. The show is very different from most shows you have seen on Nickelodeon. It shows the kids going through different adventures, at the entertaining Hollywood Arts, a performing arts schools for the extremely talented. shows how fun and interesting high school can be, and it even showcases the very talented cast.
Some episodes you will hear the cast sing in: Season 1-“The Birthweek Song” (episode 4), Tori (played by Victoria Justice) is trying to find the perfect gift for her sister Trina ( played by Daniella Monet), so she sings her a song. My favorite episode of this season, would be the Emmy-nominated “Freak the Freak Out” (episode 13-14). In this hour long special, we see the very talented Elizabeth Gillies (who plays Jade) and her amazingly talented co-star Ariana Grande ( who plays Cat), blow us away with their strong vocals, when they perform “Give it Up”. These girls can truly sing, and they showed us why they were on Broadway (“13 the musical) in 2008. In the end Victoria Justice, comes in, and also takes the crowd’s breath away, when she sings the title track, “Freak the Freak Out.’ Another great episode is “The Diddly-Bops” (episode 16), where the cast dresses up in food costumes, form a kiddy-band, and sing a song called “Favorite Foods.” Andre, played by Leon Thomas III, sings an original song that he wrote when he was 14, called, “Song 2 You,” which is a very good love song.
Season 2 is currently airing, and I gotta tell you, the singing only gets better. In episode 1, Tori, sings a girl power anthem, “Beggin’ on Your Knees” (also the episode title). In “Prom Wrecker” (episode 5), Victoria Justice sings her song that she wrote herself, “Best Friend’s Brother” This is a very catchy tune that many girls, as well as women can relate to, who’s ever had a crush on her best friend’s brother. My favorite episode so far this season is another hour-long special, titled “Locked Up”. Tori plans a vacation that is too good to be true, and they end up in prison. They sing two songs, “All I want is Everything”,and a cover of a Jackson 5 classic, “I Want You Back.”
Most recently, a new episode premiered, titled “Who Did it to Trina?” I found this episode very funny, especially everyone’s flashbacks. Dan Schneider and his writers aim to please in every episode, with hilarious jokes, believable characters, and a cast who gives 100% all of the time.
Overall, the show is very well written, has great jokes, a very talented cast, and a great family-oriented show. Take a look at, you won’t regret it.
