I just found out that Ben Flajnik, the winemaker from California whose heart was broken by Ashley Hebert on The Bachelorette when she chose J.P. Rosenbaum, will be ABC’s next Bachelor starting January 16, 2012. It’s not surprising; Ben was a very popular close second in the contest for Ashley’s heart.
Ben is a cute, boyish guy with nice manners. He lives in beautiful Sonoma County in California, with his mother and sister. On Ashley’s season, she went and visited Ben at his home, and it seemed to me that he and the two women in his life were very close. Also, although he seemed like an easygoing, free-spirited young guy, his mother and sister presented a different family picture; they are sophisticated people who enjoy going into the city for the cultural offerings there.
Ben was really crazy about Ashley and ready to propose to her. The two of them seemed to be a good match. They were so comfortable with each other; they laughed a lot and had fun like two kids. But I do remember Ashley saying something to the effect that Ben was like a brother to her. With J. P., on the other hand, there was passion. Ashley couldn’t get enough of his kisses. She was pretty clear about needing to feel chemistry with the guy she chose; she had it with J.P. and not Ben-or not as much. I admired her for being true to herself.
I did feel sad for Ben, though. Ben was such a sweet guy. So now he has his chance to find love on The Bachelor. I’m glad for him, and I, like millions of other viewers, will enjoy getting to know Ben a little better. The Bachelor‘s 16th Season starts on January 16, 2012. That’s easy to remember, and something to look forward to!
