‘Bachelor,’ ‘Bachelorette’ Couples Who Broke Our Hearts When Their Relationships Failed

There have been so many failed couples throughout the many seasons of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette.” It is almost like the odds are stacked completely against these couples, no matter which partner the player chooses. Unfortunately, those that stay together are in the minority, and most don’t even last past a few months. Of course there are couples that everyone seems to root for, and when they fall apart, you get that sick feeling in your stomach. After you have watched their love story, it almost feels like you are a part of their lives. These are some of the most disappointing relationship failings from both shows.

Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez

Ali was a favorite for many fans. We watched as her heart was torn on “The Bachelor” and then as she got another shot at true love on Season 6 of “The Bachelorette.” Roberto stole her heart, and the show ended with a proposal and her acceptance. Their relationship was rumored to be rocky and they did set wedding plans on hold, but no one thought they would completely split. They made an appearance on Season 2 of “Bachelor Pad” and looked quite happy. At the end of November 2010, the couple called their engagement off and went their separate ways.

Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft

This was one of the most controversial breakups in the show’s history. Jason broke Melissa’s heart on national television when he ended things with her in favor of wanting the runner-up, Molly, from his season of “The Bachelor.” He realized he chose the wrong girl, but went about handling it in a completely pompous and selfish way. As of now, both Jason and Melissa are married. Jason ended up with Molly, and Melissa found her way back to an ex-boyfriend. While it was a huge mess in the beginning, things worked out for the best with these two.

Brad Womack and Emily Maynard

We really wanted to see this couple make it work. They were destined for doom though, and anyone that could see their dynamic knew it. Maynard is now said to be dating around, and Womack is trying to win her back. It appears that she is not interested in him after he broke her heart, and who can really blame her?

With shows like these, it is more about fame and exposure than finding true love. Right now, Ryan/Trista and Jason/Molly are the only couples who have stayed together and made things work.
