Between Summer and Fall

Summer nights shorten,
Crops ripen, flowers fade,
The reign of summer ends.
Birds and bees once boldly soaring
Now drift meekly to the earth,
Dragging silent sinking leaves in tow.
And the earth cools, heat condensing,
Swelling Autumn clouds with waters waiting for release.

The twilight of a season fills our senses
Full of stillness between two places.
Fall is not yet on the horizon so we wait…
Lost between the seasons.
