Crystal Palace Vs. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall…Who’s Better?

At Walt Disney World, there are two character meals that are great choices for guests; Crystal Palace and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. The restaurants offer totally different atmospheres and experiences.

At Crystal Palace, the theme is Winnie the Pooh. It is located off of the castle in Magic Kingdom. For breakfast, the buffet offers up such choices as eggs, Mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, fruit, and bagels. For lunch and dinner, there is a variety of salads, pizza, and carved meats. The restaurant is light and airy. It caters to all ages and is good for both boys and girls.

The characters come to the tables to sign autographs. These characters include Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and Piglet.

In Epcot, in the Norweigan Pavillion, there is Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. This restaurant is a princess meal. It features all the classic Disney princesses. The restaurant is more intimate and is a sit down meal. The food is brought to the guests on plates. There is also a buffet for fruit and cheeses. Like Crystal Palace, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But Akershus offers traditional Norweigan meals.

Akershus appeals more to girls and is a very princessy experience. However, I would say that the character interaction is equally good at Crystal Palace. But the food at Akershus is superb. I was able to get hash browns which was wonderful since I have an onion allergy and cannot eat them.

After eating at both these restaurants, I have to give the edge to Akershus. The food is much better than at Crystal Palace and the characters spent more time at the tables.

Both these restaurants require reservations. They can be reserved 180 days in advice by calling 407-WDW-Disney or online at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/
