As a world traveler, Costa Rica is one of my favorite spots to visit and go backpacking through. The people are friendly, the environment is captivating, and the country is easy to navigate. Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries in the world offering a variety of activities, beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine, and an abundance of flora, fauna, and wild life. If you’re flying into San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital, consider one of these activities for a day trip. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Bungee Jumping

There’s nothing quite like bungee jumping in Costa Rica, especially if you’re the adventurous type.Tropical Bungee offers bungee jumping from the Old Colorado River Bridge. At 265 ft. high this jump will surely test your courage as it’s one of the highest bungee bridges in the Americas. Your first jump will cost you $75 and if you’re brave enough to jump a second time, it will cost $35. The company provides free transportation from San Jose. It’s sure to be the experience of a lifetime.

Canopy Tours

If exploring the rainforest is what you’re interested in, definitely consider going on a canopy tour. Canopy tours offer the best way to see the Costa Rican rain forest as you zipline through the jungle and see spectacular views and wild life. The Original Canopy Tours at Mahogany Park is just an hour outside of San Jose. The tour is roughly two hours and at the end of the journey you have option of flourishing down a 60 ft rappel.

Arenal Tours & Horseback Riding

Arenal is a place that offers rainforests, rivers, waterfalls, and hot springs. This is a great place for all nature lovers who want to get away from the city for a day. Irazú Volcano

Irazú Volcano is one of Costa Rica’s most active volcanoes, although these days it’s pretty quiet. The landscape here has been compared to that of the moon. This is a national park with an entrance fee of $10. The area is most known for its incredible views. Get here at the right time and you might be able to see both the Pacific and Atlantic ocean. The best time to come to the volcano is in the morning as the clouds descend by noon. Kekoldi Tours provides an 8-hour tour and lunch. Don’t forget to bring your camera and some extra layers to keep warm. This is one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful spots.
