Easy Refurbished Coffee Table Top Using Marbles

Refurbish an old coffee table with a new top. This playful marble coffee table top brings out the inner child while providing a colorful touch to the room’s décor. A marble topped coffee table is an ideal addition to a family or recreational room.

Things You’ll Need:

Old coffee table
Sandpaper
Lint free cloth or tack cloth
Spray paint
Clear silicon caulk
Putty knife
½-inch diameter marbles (lots of them)

Instructions:

Step 1 – Sand the surface of the coffee table to remove the shine.

Step 2 – Wipe the coffee table with a lint free cloth or a tack cloth to remove all sanding dust.

Step 3 – Spray paint the coffee table the desired color. Allow the spray paint to dry overnight before continuing.

Step 4 – Work on the top of the coffee table. Squeeze a 3/8-inch deep line of clear silicon caulk approximately ¼-inch from an edge.

Step 5 – Place the marbles in the silicon caulk to create the outside edge of the coffee table top. Position the marbles so they are even with the outside edge of the coffee table and do not extend past the edge. Make sure the marbles are placed side-by-side.

Step 6 – Repeat Steps 4 and 5 around the remaining three edges of the coffee table. Allow the silicon to dry 1 hour before continuing.

Step 7- Place the tip of the silicon caulking next to the previous row of marbles. Squeeze a line of clear silicon 3/8-inch deep along the row. Position the marbles. Repeat the process on the three remaining sides.

Step 8 – Repeat the process line but line until the entire coffee table top is covered with marbles.

Step 9 – Allow the refurbished coffee table to dry 24 hours before use.

Add a design to the coffee table top prior to starting the process. Draw the design on the top with a permanent marker. As you place the marbles in each row, position the desired color of marbles over the drawn design.
