The Ballet Guild of the Lehigh Valley will be hosting a master ballet class with famed dancer Sarah Lane.
Many ballet enthusiasts and students are familiar with Sarah Lane. She has been a soloist with the American Ballet Theater in New York City since August 2007. Her ABT roles are many and included Shade in La Bayadère, Galya in The Bright Stream, Blossom in Cinderella, Gulnare in Le Corsaire. Miss Lane also appeared as Natalie Portman’s dance double in the Oscar winning film Black Swan. The Ballet Guild of the Lehigh Valley was honored to have Miss Lane perform the roles of the Snow Queen and Sugar Plum Fairy in the Guild’s 2009 production of the Nutcracker.
The Ballet Guild’s Master Class with Miss Sarah Lane will take place at the Guild’s facilities in Bethlehem on Saturday, September 10th from 12 pm to 2 pm. This opportunity to study under an acclaimed artist is available to Intermediate/advanced ballet dancers who have at least four years of training. Space is limited so the Guild requests that dancers be registered in advance by visiting their website or calling 610-865-0353. The fee for the class is $45 for participants and $5 for observers. A half hour question and answer period will follow the class.
The Ballet Guild of the Lehigh Valley was started by Marjorie Berlin Fink in 1958 and serves as the umbrella organization for the Pennsylvania Youth Ballet school and performing company. Under the artistic direction of Karen Kroninger Knerr since 2007, the Guild continues it’s over 50 year tradition of fostering the art of theatre dance, primarily classical ballet, through education and performances.
