What is leadership? Are people born leaders or do they become leaders over time? These are two questions that many social scientists and corporate executives are currently debating. Although there is no one agreed upon answer, the two questions do provide for fantastic conversation. With that in mind, if you’d like to open up a discussion about leadership with your EFL/ESL students, give the following free conversation questions a try.
What makes a good leader? Are people born leaders or do they become leaders over time? What are three qualities all leaders should have? Are there any leaders you admire? Do you consider yourself a leader? Why or why not? Is leading difficult in your opinion? Why or why not? If you don’t consider yourself a leader, was there a moment in which you had to become a leader and lead, and, how was it? How does a leader lead so that others will gladly follow and not forcefully follow? Does the definition of leadership change from country to country, or, is it the same around the world? Is there a difference between a boss and a leader, or, are they the same thing?
