Green Living: Rolled Rag Bracelet Instructions

Create a rolled rag bracelet from your favorite worn out jeans, shirt, sweatshirt or sweater. This simple project takes just minutes to complete. Accessorize your outfits with that perfect bracelet. Make several to wear as a group on your wrist.

Things You’ll Need:

Old clothing
Scissors
Ruler
Water soluble or disappearing sewing pencil
3-inch metal ring
Fabric glue
Clippie clothespin or chip bag clip

Instructions:

Step 1 – Measure, mark and cut the old clothing into ½-inch strips.

Step 2 – Hold a short end of the strip so it is diagonally across one portion of the 3-inch metal ring.

Step 3 – Wind the fabric tightly around the metal ring. Overlap the fabric ¼-inch.

Step 4 – Overlap the wrap by 1-inch. Cut the fabric strip at this point.

Step 5 – Unwrap the fabric from the metal ring one wrap. Squeeze a line of fabric glue along the edge of the fabric strip.

Step 6 – Wrap the fabric around the metal ring and clamp with a clippie clothespin or a chip bag clip. Allow the fabric glue to dry 30 minutes before removing the clip.

The edges of the fabric will fray with wear. This adds addition personality to the rolled rag bracelet. Make a flower out of the remainder of the fabric and glue it onto the bracelet. Add a bow by simply tying a strip of fabric around the bracelet. Pull the bow to the desired size. Cut the tails to the desired length.
