How to Create Beautiful Flawless Skin Using Makeup

Have you ever wondered how to fake flawless skin with your make-up? With a few steps you can have long lasting, flawless looking skin. If you have a quick makeup routine or are in a rush you may find this process a bit daunting at first, as it is pretty time consuming to make sure everything is done correctly and in order, but it’s worth it if you want a beautiful, fresh looking face all day long.

Primer

The first step in any make up application is staring with a clean face. If you use moisturizer or sunscreen let it dry for at least 5 minutes on your skin before applying makeup to help the product sink into your pores and allow for smooth makeup application. Be sure to avoid products with SPF if you are taking photos, they create a white cast and can make your skin appear much lighter than the rest of your body. Next, apply a primer. Primers help even out skin texture and create a smooth base for your makeup to stick to. The type of primer you choose should be based on your skin type. Cream or silicone based primers work best for dry skin and gels for oily skin, normal skin types can opt for a silicone based primer as well. There are many different kinds of primers available many with various effects, experiment to find which one you like best. I think my favorite one so far is by Rimmel London because it does a great job of creating a flawless face at a low price.

Foundation

Apply your foundation using a stippling brush or makeup sponge. A stippling brush works best with liquid foundations, and is best used by dabbing it into the skin with light pressure. This method allows for full coverage without using a lot of foundation. Use a makeup sponge for powder or whipped foundations, blot lightly into the skin and blend so there are no harsh lines. This offers medium coverage and can be used to create a dewy effect. Revlon Colorstay is a great full coverage liquid foundation with multiple formulas for various skin tones. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse works beautifully to create a flawless finish. Using your fingertips will transfer oil from your hands to your face and is best saved for products like tinted moisturizers.

Concealer

Apply a skin matching concealer to any dark circles, pimples, or dark spots you want to cover up, be sure to use a makeup brush and lightly dab it over the area. If you use blush, apply it now. Cream blushes will offer a dewy finish to your face, while powders can provide a matte finish and extra oil absorption for oily skin types. I really love The Everything Pencil to hide my imperfections, it is really easy to use and they even offer one with acne medication built in for people prone to breakouts.

Powder

Finally lightly dust a light layer of loose powder over your face, this will help set your foundation and absorb oil. I find mineral veil types work well with many skin tones and provide a smoother finish, but any loose powder will do. You can also use a light bronzing powder over your T-zone for a nice pop of color.

Setting Spray

Finally, use a makeup setting spray to set your makeup and allow your makeup to last all day. This should be used after you have finished the rest of your face as well. There are many different types of setting sprays out there, and the one you choose should depend on the climate and the look you want to achieve. Most are water based formulas and many people assume this will mess up their makeup, this is completely untrue. My favorite one is Model in a Bottle, it really helps your makeup last all day and night, even in hot weather and through a workout. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle of whichever brand you choose.

With a bit of practice and a few products you can easily create a beautiful flawless face at home worthy of the professionals.
