How to Make a Rose Milk Bath for Younger Looking Skin

Rose is often used in skin care products because of its excellent astringent properties. It pulls together tissue, gently tightening skin and reducing problems such as skin sagging and fine lines. Bathing in water with rose essential oil is an excellent way to improve skin tone. Add the moisturizing, softening properties of fresh milk or milk powder and you have the perfect combination for aging, dry skin. Making Your Own Therapeutic Bath

To make a bath with rose oil and milk, first fill your tub with hot water. Let the bath cool to a comfortable temperature. Add eight drops of rose essential oil to two cups of fresh milk and pour into bath water. You can also use milk powder instead of fresh milk. Be sure to swirl the powder and rose oil well to disperse. Put on relaxing music, light an aromatherapy candle and relax in your homemade rose milk bath for twenty minutes.

After getting out of your bath, use a homemade rose lotion for more toning, hydrating and softening. Add 25 drops of rose essential oil to 8 ounces of unscented lotion.

Other Bath Additives

From other essential oils to bath salts, there are other natural ingredients that you can add to your rose milk bath to make it more of a therapeutic experience. Rose tones the skin and has a mild antidepressant effect on the mind. It blends very well with sandalwood, which is good for depression as well, and it moisturizes the skin. For a calming, floral bath to improve the skin and promote a restful sleep, blend rose oil with lavender. When combining essential oils, use four drops of rose and four drops of sandalwood or lavender.

Other great additions include raw honey to nourish and help the skin hold in moisture. Mix three tablespoons of honey with one-half cup of boiling water and add to your milk bath. Epsom salts or sea salts are a great addition if you want a detoxifying bath. These salts will encourage sweating, while also supplying the body with minerals to absorb through the skin. Add one cup of epsom salts or sea salts and blend well into the hot water.

Try soaking in a rose milk bath once or twice a week to make the skin softer and to reduce the effects of aging on the skin. While rose is an excellent natural aid for women in general, avoid rose essential oil during pregnancy.
