How to Make Cookies on a Budget

3/4 butter (softened)
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour*

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar. Work in flour. If dough is crumbly, mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of soft butter.

Roll the dough 1/2 to 1/3 inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered table. Cut dough into shapes (oval, diamond, heart, etc.). Place 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 mins. (checking often so the cookies don’t burn to a crisp). Immediately remove from cookie sheet and allow to cool on a baking rack.

Additional options: When cookies are cooled, spread a little bit of frosting on them (any flavor), then sprinkle on candy decorations (found in the cake/baking aisle), or use small pieces of candy like Sweet Tarts, cinnamon imperials, etc.
