Review: Chex Mix Gourmet Blend Italian Herb & Parmesan

A couple days ago, my wife did some minor grocery shopping (we just needed milk and a couple other things) and, as she usually does when she shops on an empty stomach, brought home some snacks. One of the things she ended up buying was a bag of Chex Mix Gourmet Blend Italian Herb & Parmesan.

When I first saw this product, I honestly wasn’t all that interested in it. Even though it is America’s party food, I have never been a huge fan of Chex Mix and didn’t think this particular variety would do enough to change my mind about it.

However, my wife offered me some of this while we were watching a movie and, not wanting to be rude, I decided to try it. I have to admit, it was better than I was expecting it to be.

Normally, when I read something has Italian herbs and other spices, the first thought that goes through my head is it will be salty. That’s because many other products that offered the same thing ended up being that way. And, as a result of this, I was expecting the Chex Mix to be more salty than herb like.

Instead, the mix actually had a decent flavor to it. I tasted more Parmesan cheese than actual herbs but it wasn’t terrible; or at least not as bad as I was expecting it to be and, as a result of that, I did have more than one serving of it.

More importantly, the flavor was over every piece of Chex Mix. This might sound like it isn’t a big deal. But, I have had plenty of other products that would have seasoning on only about half the bag and nothing on the other half. That wasn’t a problem this time so I was able to enjoy every bite and didn’t have to spend my time picking out certain pieces.

I do want to say this didn’t quite make me a die-hard Chex Mix fan. It was better than expected. But, I think I’m still a chips/popcorn guy when it comes to snack foods; especially during our movie nights. However, if I were offered this product again, I would definitely eat it and would have no problem buying it if we were looking for some sort of snack to serve at a party or other get-together.

If you haven’t tried this product, I recommend picking up a bag.
