Review of Applebee’s Florentine Ravioli with Chicken

Last weekend, my wife and I had the opportunity to have some time away from the kids and, since I had a gift card to Applebee’s, we decided to have a date night dinner there. Even though I’m not the type of person who tries new things, the fact our meal was pretty much free inspired me to try something different and, as a result of this, I ended up ordering their Florentine Ravioli with Chicken.

I have had other Applebee’s pasta items in the past and thought they were pretty good so, when I ordered this one, I was expecting roughly the same quality. Fortunately for me, it did not disappoint.

First of all, like most Applebee’s menu items, I had no complaints about the quantity. As I said before, this was pretty much free for me but, had I paid for it, I would have felt like I got my money’s worth. Even without ordering any appetizers, I was more than satisfied. I didn’t have any leftovers but I wasn’t hungry anymore and didn’t feel hungry an hour or two later either. This was actually somewhat surprising because I normally can’t say that about something that seems to be more of a light meal that I would normally eat for lunch rather than dinner.

I also didn’t have any complaints taste wise. The grilled chicken had a good flavor, as did the sauce. And, even though I’m not a huge fan of cheese filled ravioli (I prefer meat filled), I even thought that was good, mostly because it worked well with the other two things.

In fact, my only real complaint about this particular menu item is there might have been a bit too much spinach in it. I don’t hate spinach but, between the pasta having it and the leaf spinach mixed in with the chicken and sauce, it was somewhat of an overkill. However, that wasn’t too big of a deal because I found it wasn’t too difficult to just eat around the spinach once I had my fill of it.

Overall, I thought this was a good menu option. I don’t know if it is something I would order from this restaurant on a regular basis. But, the next time I go, it would definitely receive at least a bit of consideration. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s worth ordering once.
