ELF recently came out with some new colors to their liquid eyeliners, and I was really excited to try them out. I ordered all three of the new colors, which are bright and colorful, a recent trend in new ELF colors and products. Forest green looks like a beautiful deep green color on the color swatch on the website. However, we all know how unreliable ELF’s swatches are.
In reality, the color looks more like an olive green in the bottle than anything. When swatched on the hand, I see that it is instead a dark green, a little darker than forest green, but still beautiful and distinctly green, as opposed to ELF’s midnight, which is a lot closer to black than blue. There are some shimmers in this eyeliner that are not really obvious but add some dimension to the eyeliner. I love that this eyeliner is dark enough to bring definition to the eye but also colored enough to be obviously green. It is a beautiful alternative to the standard black eyeliner.
The staying power of this eyeliner is pretty good. With the primer, at the end of the day I see pretty much no smudging. It is refreshing to go without raccoon eyes for once. However, I have noticed a little bit of fading. The color is not as vibrant as it was in the morning after over 12 hours. Overall, though, I’m pretty pleased with how this eye liner wears.
The one thing I wish I could change about this eyeliner is its applicator. It is a felt tip applicator with a fine tip that allows me to make both thick and thin lines, which I really appreciate, as I want to thin my liner closer to the inner eye. However, it is one of those applicators that is not flexible at all. It is a really hard tip, which can make your lines uneven. I wish it had more give so that I could have more precise application. But because I like other aspects of this liner, I can live with it.
Overall, I would highly recommend this eyeliner to everyone. It is a great color and is fairly good quality.
