I had to leave for work a bit early this morning so I could put gas in my car and, between that and needing to shovel snow, I didn’t have a chance to eat breakfast. I didn’t want to starve so, while I was at Kwik Trip filling up my gas tank, I decided to pick up something there.
I had originally planned on grabbing one of their breakfast sandwiches. But, the one I like wasn’t in stock so I looked for something else instead. When I saw they had breakfast burritos from their Kitchen Cravings brand, I decided to give one of those a try.
I order breakfast burritos from McDonald’s on a regular basis and, even though I will buy frozen breakfast burritos or comparable items from other stores/restaurants, I have yet to find one that is as good. I hoped this particular breakfast burrito would be the exception because Kwik Trip is only a block away from my work. But, that wasn’t the case.
To be fair, when compared to frozen brands, the breakfast burrito I had this morning wasn’t horrible. A lot of frozen burritos don’t have that much inside them and, as a result, are usually tasteless and aren’t very filling. This particular one did have quite a bit inside it and I was full after just one.
However, compared to the McDonald’s burritos, this particular brand did leave a lot to be desired. For one, I didn’t get as much value. I could buy two McDonald’s burritos for less money than I spent on just one of these and, even though there was a slight size difference, it wasn’t significant enough to justify the higher price.
As far as taste goes, I didn’t necessarily hate this particular brand, but, at the same time, it didn’t really impress me either. I’m not sure if they used too much of something or not enough of something else, but the McDonald’s burritos definitely have better flavor.
As a result, while this would be something worth considering the next time I need to stop for gas and haven’t had breakfast, I still think the McDonald’s burritos are still better and worth going out of my way for.
