Review: Schick ST3 Disposable Men’s Razors

I ran to the store first thing this morning to pick up something for both breakfast and dinner later tonight. While I was in the parking lot, I remembered I was out of razors and my last one was getting very dull so I ended up running into Shopko to pick up some disposable razors.

After looking at a few different brands, I ended up buying a package of Schick ST3 disposable men’s razors.

As I have mentioned in the past, I’m not a huge fan of razors with just three blades in them and, under most circumstances, I probably wouldn’t have even considered this purchase. However, Shopko’s razor selection is kind of limited and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on some of the brands I’m familiar with. While this brand wasn’t the cheapest one, it did offer the most value (8 razors for about $8) so I ended up buying it.

So far, my opinion of the razors is about what I expected them to be.

Overall, I would say these razors do an average job shaving. They aren’t quite as good as some other razors I’ve tried in the past (mostly because the blades do grab a little bit while I’m shaving) but, at the same time, I’ve had plenty of other razors that were considerably worse. Basically, they get the job done but aren’t anything special either.

One of the things advertised on the package was their slim design. This might work for some people but I personally wasn’t a huge fan of it. It made the razor seem a bit too much like a lady’s razor and it didn’t fit my hand quite as well as most other men’s razors. It lacked weight to it too; something I think prevents it from giving as close of a shave as some other brands.

Another thing I’m not a fan of is these razors are hard to clean out after using them. This is actually one of my biggest pet peeves because hair gets caught in between the blades and shortens the life expectancy of each razor as a result. As I said before, these weren’t the cheapest razors I could have purchased and, with me spending a bit more money on them, I do expect to get a bit more use out of them than I would get with bargain brands.

As I said before, this is an OK brand of razor that gets the job done. But, the razors also aren’t anything overly special and I wouldn’t go to the store with the intention of buying this particular brand.
