Rose Arianna McGowan is a Italian born, American actress who is known for her talent, off-the-wall roles, and sex appeal. Rose has opened up about her ties with the gay community. She also is starring in the new 2011 adaptation of “Conan The Barbarian.”
Rose was born in Italy in 1973 on September 5. She was born to French/Irish parents. Rose has appeared in both TV and film since making her way into Hollywood. She replaced Shannen Doherty’s character on the WB television series “Charmed”. She also starred in the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriquez film “Grindhouse”. In the film her character dawned a machine gun as a foot. She has also had cameo appearances on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Nip/Tuck”.
Rose has also talked about how she was able to sell her classic style 1928 home. Huffingtonpost.com tells us that her assistant displayed special “herbal” brownies to realtors and investors that had come to preview the home, on a table with a note reading,”Enjoy!” Rose had not known. Soon after she caught on when she received a call from one of the realtors who seemed as she puts it “spaced out.” Rose admit’s that her beautiful home, she feels, somehow triggers an allergic reaction in her. She later found the source of the problem to be pillows that where in her possession and always in close proximity to her.
Rose is in the new adaptation of Conan: The Barbarian. The original Conan part was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and in the new film is being played by Jason Momoa. Rose plays an evil witch in the movie. She says during filming she had to become transformed with make up into her character that took six hours every morning.
Huffingtonpost.com says that Rose McGowan is a strong and passionate advocate for the gay community. Rose McGowan personally advocates because she has a very personal experience and history with this particular demographic. Born in Italy, Rose was a member of the ‘Children of God’ cult. She then moved with her family to the United States at the age of ten.
Being very troubled at home, she abandoned her home a little time after that. She tells Huffingtonpost.com,”At 13, when I was a runaway, I was taken in by the most amazing drag queens in Portland, Oregon….We didn’t always know where our next meal was coming from, but there was so much camaraderie and love. Not to mention, those girls could paint a face, and I learned how because of them.” She then goes on to explain that because of this background, she was be able to make her way into gay clubs. She admits that now she only goes into gay clubs because of her past saying,”To this day, I only go into gay clubs. I’m perfectly at home there.”
Rose McGowan has had a very broad range of roles throughout the course of her career. She played witches, weirdos, and always happens to bring a colorful nature to any role she plays.
