UPDATE: Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have uncharacteristically responded to a rumor. In a joint statement, they have denied that they have split despite the In Touch Weekly article that says they have separated.
“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”
In Touch Weekly is notorious for flat-out lying in order to sell magazines. With magazine subscriptions at an all time low, it’s not surprising that they would make up a story to boost circulation. Perhaps their numbers are down because they are known for being an unreliable source.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are rumored to have separated after 13 years of marriage, according to In Touch Weekly. The Smiths are one of those Hollywood power couples that you see getting old together so it might come as a bit of a shock to see the end of such a seemingly beautiful relationship.
Will and Jada met back in 1980 when she auditioned to be his girlfriend on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” She didn’t get the part, but she did get him and they married in 1997. They have two children, Jaden, 13, and Willow, 10, who are making their own moves in entertainment. Will was previously married to Sheree Zampino, and that union produced Willard Christopher Smith, also known as Trey, who is now 18 years-old.
Jada is just coming off the third season of “Hawthorne” and came into the spotlight when she starred in “A Different World” with Marisa Tomei, Jasmine Guy, and Kadeem Hardison. She also starred in the hilarious “A Low Down Dirty Shame” with Keenan Ivory Wayans, as well as “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions.” Her husband turned down the role of Neo. She gave up a promising music career with her Heavy metal/rock band Wicked Wisdom, to concentrate on being a mother.
Will is in the midst of filming the third “Men in Black” movie. He is one of the biggest film stars in Hollywood and along with the two previous “Men in Black” movies, he also starred in blockbuster hits including “I Am Legend” and “Independence Day.” Prior to having an acting career, he was part of a rap duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, with his childhood friend Jeffrey “DJ Jazzy Jeff” Townes.
In terms of longevity, Mr. And Mrs. Smith have accomplished a great feat by Hollywood standards and together they are a visually stunning and talented couple. Will is tall, dark and handsome, while Jada is petite, beautiful, and strong. To some, they represented a strong, successful family dynamic, and showed that one can be famous and be in a long-term relationship – or not.
Time will tell if this story is fact or fiction but for the sake of those who are hanging on to the idea of finding “the one,” we hope it is pure fiction.
