Setting Up and Using a Google Checkout Account

A Google Checkout account lets you purchase items through online businesses that use Google Checkout. You need submit your credit card information only once, while you set up your Google Checkout account. This document explains how to set up and use a Google Checkout account.

Setting Up Google Checkout – To set up a Google Checkout account, do the following:

1 – Go to Google, click “More,” click “Even more,” scroll to the Home & Office section and then click “Checkout” to display a Google Checkout Sign-in window similar to the first image above.

2 – Sign in to your Google account to display a window similar to the second image above. If you do not already have a Goggle account, such as a Gmail account, you can sign up for a new Google account.

3 – Type in your credit-card information, scroll to the bottom of the window, and then click “Create my account. Time to shop!” to redisplay the Google Checkout Sign-in window.

4 – Sign in to your Google account to display a Google Checkout Purchase History window similar to the third image above. This is your Google Checkout page; bookmark it.

Paying Through Google Checkout – If you order an item through an online business that uses Google Checkout, you can pay through your Google Checkout account. Of course, if a business that does not use Google Checkout, you can usually pay through either another payment account or directly through a credit card.

Note: If you wish to know in advance whether a business uses Google Checkout, go to your bookmarked Google Checkout page, sign in and then click “Browse stores” to display a window similar to the fourth image above.

To pay for a purchase through your Google Checkout account, do the following:

1 – Open the website of an online business that uses Google Checkout. For example, as shown in the fourth image above, you might click “TigerDirect.com” to open its site.

2 – Search through the merchant’s site to find one or more items that you need or want. For each item you select, add it to the merchant’s cart.

3 – When you are ready to pay for your selected item (or items), go to the cart and then click “Google Checkout” to display a window similar to the fifth image above.

4 – Review your order carefully. If you wish to add or delete any items, click “Edit order.”

5 – When you are certain that your order is correct, click “Place your order now” to confirm it.
