Singer, Actress Whitney Houston Dies at 48

The world and the musical community are in shock as the word of Whitney Houston’s death spreads. Houston, who was just 48-years-old, was known for her fantastic voice and acting ability. Unfortunately that isn’t all she was known for, she was also known for her public battle with drugs.

On Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, Beverly Hills Police Department and other emergency services were dispatched to a Beverly Hills Hotel where a person that was later confirmed to be Houston was unresponsive. According to Foxnews.com, both hotel staff and fire department officials tired to revive Houston, but were unsuccessful. Later, Publicist Kristen Foster announced that Houston had indeed passed.

Police say that there was no obvious signs of criminal intent, and they are currently investigating the cause of Houston’s death.

Even without knowing the cause of Houston’s death, there is a ton of speculation swirling around as to what happened to the singer. With the incidents deaths of drug related deaths of Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger, and the recent overdose of Demi Moore still fresh in the minds of fans, many suspect that Houston’s death is connected to her drug abuse.

As the world holds its breath waiting to learn what happened to the singer once known as the “queen of pop,” they are reflecting on her life achievements. Houston won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, and countless others. She is best known for her role in the “The Bodyguard” and her many hit songs like “I Will Always Love You.”
