Andy Whitfield shot into stardom with his role as an iron-clad Roman gladiator in Starz’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand. However, the Welsh-Australian actor was unable to resume filming the second season of Spartacus due to being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He left the series in 2010 to receive treatment. Sadly, the 39-year-old lost his battle with the disease and died on Sunday.
Actor Liam McIntyre was decided replace Whitfield’s role in Spartacus. However, fans will always remember and miss Whitfield as the original Spartacus.
