Special Prosecutor Files Motion to Extend Stay of Proceedings

The law firm of Rothstein, Donatelli, Hughes, Dahlstrom & Schoenburg, LLP, which was recently appointed Special Prosecutor for the Navajo Nation, has requested the Court to extend the stay of proceedings to allow more time to review the civil complaint against a number of Navajo Nation officials.

The Rothstein Firm filed a motion for a 30-day extension of the stay of the civil complaint filed in July 2011 against a large number of current and former council members, former President Joe Shirley, Controller Mark Grant and the former and current Attorneys General.

Since the appointment and after receiving all of the files from the former Special Prosecutor, it has become apparent to the law firm that all parties will be best served if they take additional time to further assess the facts and the law underlying the complaint.

“We owe it to the Navajo Nation and to those named in the complaints to conduct a thorough review of the evidence,” Eric Dahlstrom stated. “At the same time, we are working expediently to determine the appropriate next steps to move this case forward.”
