Spiritual Basic Training: 50 Missions for a Spirit-Filled Life #16

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere”(James 3:17).

What is the knowledge we are hoping to attain from the living Word? God’s will? The purpose for our lives? How to get to heaven? It is all inside the cover of the Bible. The Word of God is perfect and timeless. A verse will speak to us in certain ways at different times in our lives. That is the perfection of his Word. We may have read the Bible from cover to cover, and we can recite many verses, but as time passes each verse may bring a new revelation. The ever-evolving meanings of God’s messages offer a testament to how truly magnificent and all knowing he really is. What is truly endearing about God’s wisdom is how it transforms our lives considerably the more we understand. When the seed of knowledge begins to grow inside our mind, we will notice a metamorphosis take place in our thoughts and actions. Life’s clear meaning starts to bloom in our mind’s eye. Before we know it, our old selves fade into a distant memory and we put on our new righteous life. So never become complacent in the revisiting of the Scriptures. They will be transformed in their meaning as we are also transformed in our lives.

MISSION: Revisit and reflect

As we go through the Bible pick out verses that speak clearly to our hearts. Right them down on a separate piece of paper or document and revisit them later. Notice how a verse can have different meanings at particular times in our lives. This proves that God’s Word is living, breathing, and perfectly timeless.
