The biggest and most attended event occurring on Labor day in Eastern Idaho is and has always been the Eastern Idaho State Fair held at the fair grounds in Blackfoot, Idaho. The fair always runs the first week of September. This year it runs Sunday September 3 rd thru Saturday September 10 th and with Monday the 5 th of September being Labor Day it is sure to draw a crowd.
I have on several occasions attended the State Fair on Labor Day and so I am speaking from experience when I say that it will draw a crowd. My favorite things to do when I attend consist of walking around looking at all of the exhibits, seeing the livestock, watching Indian horse races, and eating the great food. My favorite foods are the Tiger Ear (a giant scone), a Bimbo burger (my late husband loved these), corn on the cob, caramel apples, and cotton candy (if you can consider it food).
So for Labor day this year head on down or up (depending on where you hail from) to the Eastern Idaho State Fair. The gates open at 8:00 a.m. each day and the buildings are open at 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day. Here is a list of what you can enjoy:
