Super Bowl Kicker Appetizers Everyone Will Love

As a de facto American National holiday, Super Bowl Sunday is America’s number one all time favorite hang loose holiday party. Let’s not spoil it with over the top Hors d’oeuvre expenses and frills that don’t go anywhere other than in your wallet!

Family, friends and unexpected guests create the fun, so let’s keep it that way without the stress of high end catering.

Here are three truly out of the box, cheap, simple and delicious appetizers to add to your party table without looking over your shoulder wondering, “did I do the right thing”?
Depending on how many guests will grace your home on Super Bowl Sunday, portions will vary.

1.Spicy Chicken Bites

Serves Ten.
I Cooked rotisserie Chicken.
1 cup plain flour
3 TBS olive oil
2 tsp hot sauce or red chili flakes
1TBS garlic powder
1TBS cumin powder
1 TBS coriander powder
1 TBS ginger powder
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
10 medium tortillas

Cut chicken into bite size pieces using both dark and white meat.
In a bowl, toss chicken in the flour to lightly coat.
Place in 350 degree oven for half hour or until chicken pieces are
slightly browned.
Throw bones, skin and fat into a pot with 5 cups water. Bring to
boil, let simmer till stock is reduced to about three cups.

In a saute’ pan, heat oil and add garlic, cumin, coriander and ginger.
Semi fry -saute’ till the flavors begin to extract an aroma. Add yogurt mix well.
Add stock and let simmer down to a thick consistency sauce that will hold
on the chicken.
Add hot sauce and mix well.
Add chicken bites and toss well to cover the chicken in sauce.
Add cilantro and serve in bowl.

Heat tortillas in oven and cut into large triangles. Serve in a basket
covered napkin.
Guests will enjoy scooping their own little bites onto a tortilla wedge,
while coming back for more again and again!

2. Cheese Straws.

Serves 20.

1 loaf sourdough bread.
1 lb grated cheddar cheese bag
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
4 large beaten eggs in 3 TBS milk
1TBS red chili flakes
1/ tsp ground cinnamon or nutmeg
1 tsp ground black pepper

Cut sliced bread into horizontal strips.
In a bowl mix cheese, cinnamon and peppers.
Transfer cheese mix to a cooking sheet.
Dip bread strips in egg wash to coat.
Dip strips in cheese mix to coat evenly.
Place on greased cooking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees until crisp and golden.
Can be served hot or at room temperature.

3. Syrup Bites

Serves 20.

1 lb box of plain bite size donuts.
1 cup brown sugar.
1tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla.
1/4 tsp ground or whole cloves (optional).
8 oz whipped topping

Bring to boil sugar with 2 cups water.
Add cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
Simmer down to a thick syrup. About 1 cup.
Add vanilla, mix well.
Toss donuts in syrup to coat evenly. Let rest
for an hour to allow syrup to soak into donuts.
Serve on platter with toothpicks and a bowl of
whipped topping for dipping.
