Finding that perfect Valentine’s Day gift for that special man is very simple if you know how to crochet a simple single crochet stitch. Make that special man a neck warmer for Valentine’s Day using a yarn that either compliments his coat or is his favorite color. This neck warmer fits over the top of the head and is a wide loose fitting band. The band looks like a scarf that is wrapped around the neck but has no tails.
8 oz. Super hunky heavy weight yarn or 12 oz. of 4-ply worsted weight yarn
Size N/15/10mm crochet hook
Crocheted Neck Warmer Instructions:
Row 1 – Chain 54 stitches. Slipstitch the last stitch to the first stitch in the row making sure the chain is not twisted. Work with a single strand of the super heavy weight yarn or a double strand of 4-ply worsted weight yarn throughout the entire pattern.
Row 2 – Chain 1 stitch. Single crochet in the same stitch as the slipstitch. Double crochet in the next stitch. Single crochet in the next stitch then double crochet in the following – repeat the pattern around for a total of 52 stitches. Slipstitch the last stitch to the first stitch in the row.
Row 3 – Chain 2 stitches. Double crochet in the same stitch as the slipstitch. Single crochet in the next stitch. Double crochet in the following stitch then single crochet in the next – repeat the pattern around for a total of 52 stitches. Slipstitch the last stitch to the first stitch in the row.
Rows 4 to 11 – Repeat Rows 2 and 3. Finish off after the 11th row.
Now that you are done crocheting a neck warmer for your special man, make one for yourself. The same pattern is used except Row 1 begins with a chain of 44 stitches and the last row stitched is Row 9. The neck warmer will be shorter for a woman and slightly smaller in circumference.
