A: There are studies that go both ways, but based off of several studies done in the last few years we know that casein proteins from milk block the beneficial effects of tea by themselves because the casein slows the absorption process by essentially congealing in your tummy.The process of cheese-making removes water, lactose and whey proteins so that casein is concentrated. Ergo, concentrated casein in cheese equals concentrated stopping power of the benefits of the poly’s like catechin in tea.Whey however should not have this effect as this is a separate protein from casein and does not contain casein.
