what is the best food for losing weight when fasting?
Q: When the time comes to break my fast i want to have food that will benefit me the most when it comes to losing weight AND not make me feel too hungry or weak during the period of the day that i am fasting. I fast for about 16 hours.
A: Fasting is a process normally associated with going with out food for a period of time, it sounds to me you are just choosing to eat once a day. This is not a good way to loose weight as you metabolism with slow down, think about eating 3 or 4 small portions of food each day as this will keep you metabolism and fat burning at an optimum. Fasting only puts your body into starvation, this boils down to it giving you less energy to do stuff and when you do eat the body will try to store as much of the energy from the food into fat. So morning meal, very small portion of non sweetened breakfast cereal with non fat milk, 2nd meal about 11 to 12 o’clock, a fillet portion of chicken with on portion of veggies. 3rd meal, 3 to 4 o’clock maybe a health food bar 100 calories or so. 6 to 7 o’clock, half a tin of soup with one slice of wholemeal toast. If you get hungry in between any of your meals always carry a bag of carrot sticks with you to which you can snack on. Also with any of your meals you can fill up on as much broccoli, cabbage or cauliflower, all healthy and low in calories. The most important thing about long term weight loss is exercise, with out this you will not maintain a healthy weight. You should be looking at an intake of 1000 calories per day whilst dieting, nothing less other wise your weight loss will not be optimum and you will just put it all back on eventually. Never aim at loosing more than 2 pounds per week. you should be looking at weight loss over you lifetime so even at loosing 1 pound per week you will still loose 2 stone in just 6 months.Good luck and keep it healthy.P.S. It may be a good idea to take a multivitamin and mineral supplement to make sure that your body is getting all the goodness it needs.
What is the best regime (exercise and food) to lose weight and tone up?
Q: I would like to lose weight and tone up. It doesn’t matter how tall I am or how much I weigh, my BMI is in the healthy zone but I can still lose 10-15 lbs and still be in the healthy zone. I want to lose weight and tone up.. any one have suggestions? I have an elliptical trainer in my house, and I like to run but for some reason I can’t find time/I hate to run in my neighbourhood.Anyone have ideas? Food too? I just want to be fitter for summer! But not just skinnier, I want to also have nice tone… anyone have a 7 day regime for me planned out?
A: Well the elliptical machine is a great way to get in shape fast. It is the best piece of cardio equipment available, it works every muscle in your body. If you don’t have 20-30 minutes a day, try squeezing in 5 or 10 minutes a few times a day. Some studies have actually found that shorter workouts a few times a day can actually boost your metabolism more than a typical longer workout once a day.As for food, try to eat anything as unprocessed as possible. Don’t necessarily avoid any specific food group, such as carbs. Just try not to eat a lot of food with a ton of added sugar. Try to stay away from saturated and trans fats. Also, since you are trying to tone up and not just slim down, eat as many lean proteins as you can. It’s easier to just try to generally eat healthier than to stick to a specific 7 day plan. Good luck!
Which food supplement is best for losing weight and building muscle?
Q: I want to lose weight and go to the gym regularly. I dont know whether i should continue how i am or use supplements too. I want to lose weight and build on my chest.Help people
A: For the first couple months of training in the gym, I would stay away from all supplements, especially if you are new to this. The reason I suggested this is because you need to get the feel of working out regularly and it will help you learn the basics of working out like form and how to use all of the equipment. Also, depending on what your goal in the gym is, protein supplements are not needed. If you want to gain more muscle (weight), then eventually you will probably want to invest in some post workout protein powder. On the other hand, if you want to lose weight, then it would be better to stay away from almost all supplements. The only one I’d maybe recommend for a person that wants to loose weight is 100% Whey Protein powders. But, by taking this, you must already be a very strict dieter. In summary, for the first 2 months, workout about 4-5 days a week for about an hour a time. Gradually increase your workout time to the point where its around 2 hours (if your just starting, this is a while down the road). If you want to lose weight, do mostly cardio equipment (tredmills, elipticals, stationary bikes, etc). If you want to gain more muscle, then simply lift more weights by using the machines. Good luck on your road to a better life!
