Is lyme disease possible to get rid of?
Q: can you ever fully rid yourself of lyme disease? I know that it is not “curable” but can you fully recover?
A: Lyme disease is terribly complex, often made worse by other factors such as co-infections, yeast, mold, environmental toxins, etc. Most of the people that I personally know of who have gotten much better have included some kind of “alternative” methods in their treatment–herbal detox, nutritional support, many other things too numerous to mention–either along with or instead of antibiotic therapy.Lyme disease patient support groups–either in person or on-line–are a great way to connect with others in a similar boat. The discussion groups at www.lymenet.org are a good place to start. How can i check from home if i have a tick transmitted disease?
Q: I went camping about 3 weeks ago and had to pull off a tick here and there, no big deal. Once i finally got home i hopped in the shower and noticed a few more ticks that i missed along my waist line. I pulled the ticks straight out like you’re supposed to and flushed them. There were two on my waist and one on my back, all three came out fairly easy with no blood if i remember correctly. The back wound healed right up in a day or two and one wound on my waist was healed within a week. This brings me to the third bite. It is located low on the waist line at the top of my left butt cheek. Like i said before its been almost 3 weeks now since i removed it and this particular tick bite isn’t completely healed yet. I haven’t really thought much of it up until this point, as it is located in a high friction area with my waist band constantly rubbing it; so i can understand it taking some time to completely heal. I see no ring around it and it seems to be getting smaller, but its been so long its hard to say for sure. I notice it itching every now and then, which i think is common for tick bites, but nothing that calls for medication to get rid of. I examine it nearly every day and have found no ring around it, and there have been no liquid discharges. The only reason i’m asking this question is because i looked up the early symptoms of lyme disease and found a headache (very common i know) and a cough (also very common) as things to look for. Now i’m an avid caffeine drinker and have several other habits that could easily bring on a headache, and i do smoke cigars regularly so both of these can be easily explained by my lifestyle. If the wound doesn’t eventually heal i will go to see my doctor, i was just looking for some possible advise if anyone has had a similar bite in the same general area. The ticks were very small, not bloated, possibly deer ticks which are the carriers of the disease but i really didn’t inspect them well enough to say for sure. I was only out there for two nights, and didnt really go into heavily wooded areas until the last day so its safe to say they were only on me for 24-48 hours, 72 if they jumped on me as soon as i got out of the car to set up camp. Very sorry for the long post. I hope it doesn’t keep people from reading and helping =). Thanks in advance for any advice you have to offer. Thanks for the answer, i’ll take a look at those sites. Thought I’d add that i live in Ohio, where i’ve read that deer ticks which carry lyme are very rarely found, but may be brought in by the occasional bird. From looking at pictures i want to say the ticks were dog ticks, which are more common in my area. They all looked the same and appeared to be adult males??
A: HiYou cannot do it from home, you can buy various test overs the internet, but they are not good, no matter how accredited the product is.You must visit your doctor and explain what happened, as tick carries many diseases! Your doctor will more then likely send your of 2 blood tests, and will place you on a antibiotic course.Hope this helpsxx
i have a question and im really freaked out!?
Q: i posted something about this yesterday but now i have another question. I had this little lump on my arm for about 5 or 6 months. it was this little black thing under my skin and someone said it might be a tick so i looked up pictures of tick bites and realized thats exactly what i had. the thing is i got rid of it before i knew what it was. and not to mention in all the wrong ways. i used a match to burn it out then tweezers and also tried squeezing it like a black head. keep in mind that when i did this i didnt know it was a tick so i didnt know it was a bad idea. im planning on getting checked for lyme disease becuase im really freaked out now but my question is:after all those months was it still alive? or was it just sitting there under my skin? it never turned red or anything and i dont feel any different. is it possible for it to live under my skin for 5 months? im so freaked out now.
A: Ticks don’t burrow their whole body under your skin. Once they feed they drop off and molt to the next stage in their life cycle. So my opinion is that it wasn’t a tick.
