A: 1. Go to the doctor. Get tested for diabetes, celiac, thyroid issues and other autoimmune diseases. You do not have to have gastric symptoms to be a celiac, by the way. Educate yourself about that before you go as you may have to fight to be tested.2. Get tested for Lyme disease. You are in NJ. The little buggers are everywhere, most people do NOT even see the tick that gets them. If you go outside and onto a lawn (or your dog or cat does), you can get the tick, end of story. I was lucky, I had the rash. Only 40% of people get the rash, many barely have any symptoms until they are in the 2nd stage of the disease. You are being plain STUPID trying to talk yourself out of that possibility. GET TESTED, LYME IS NOTHING TO PLAY AROUND WITH!! Sorry, but you can ruin your life over playing with your health like that. The meds for Lyme cost me $5.45. Not finding Lyme disease early can cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. Be smart, get tested!

A: I’m really sorry to hear all of your symptoms.Although the symptoms of PD and MS often sound very similar and manifest in different people at different times, this sounds more like Multiple Sclerosis especially because of the nature of your vision problem which could be nystagmus. This is not to say that you can’t have vision issues with Parkinson’s Disease, you can and my husband has them.First check MS, an autoimmune disease which has also been called an “inflammatory demyelinating condition.” Something about your description of the sudden limb pains sounds more like MS than PD. And your symptoms seem to match:visionco-ordinationstrengthsensationspeech and swallowingbladder controlsexualitycognitive functionTake a look at WebMD which gets right to the point:http://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/guide/multiple-sclerosis-symptoms-typesNext you can compare your symptoms to Parkinson’s Disease. Certainly your urinary issues sound like those of a PWP but they also fit other conditions as well.http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/parkinsons_disease/parkinsons_disease.htmYes, stiff neck is an early symptom of PD – mostly in women.Check the Mayo Clinic site for symptoms which parallel yours:http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/multiple-sclerosis/DS00188/DSECTION=symptomsYou appear to have sudden drops in blood pressure which can become dangerous if left untreated. Not knowing where in NJ you reside, I have included a general link to free clinics in and around the New Jersy area. You need to find one closest to you that offers more than STD services and go there immediately. Your symptoms require attention, diagnosis and treatment.http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7GGLC_en&num=100&newwindow=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=free+clinics+new+jersey&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&view=text&ei=iAFaSrDTDYTCNarcvUI&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&resnum=1Ok, about Lyme Disease. You might have been bitten and not even have been aware. You might not have noticed a bite on your back, for example. I know people who were diagnosed with Parkinson’s but actually had Lyme Disease which is certainly not treated the same way. Although the superficial condition can clear, the symptoms and the body’s reaction remain. If you had friend with that exposure, you could had had it too but with a different reaction.http://arthritis.webmd.com/tc/lyme-disease-symptomshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyme_diseaseI just found this MS diet website, I have no idea about the value here, but adjusting your diet might be the only treatment you can afford … once you have had a diagnosis.http://www.paleodiet.com/ms/You can check out the dietary content of fruits and vegetables here in order to include or rule out:http://parkinsonsfocustoday.blogspot.com/2009/06/more-food-for-parkinsons-disease.htmlIn both PD and MS, it is important to supplement with antioxidants. That can be done through nutritional supplements which you buy or careful attention to diet:http://www.mothernature.com/Library/bookshelf/Books/10/88.cfmand at links here for MS:http://curezone.com/diseases/ms/I’m not sure that a physician can diagnose you online. Please check the free clinic link and make an appointment. You need to be seen in person. Type up your list of symptoms – essentially your question here in full. Take two copies with you so that you can both be on the same page. You can reach me through Yahoo Answers or the site below.Best wishes.
What are the other disorder’s that can mimic Multiple Sclerosis?
Q: I have many symptoms of MS and I actually wasn’t even the one who thought about that it was sugested to me to check into it. Anyway I know the symptoms of other diseases/disorders can mimic those of MS. I was wondering what those were. The symptoms I have are as followed:Hard time concentrating and can’t remember anything much lately.Burning/itching/tingling sensations Restless leg (body) syndromeExtreme pain when I touch something really cold that shoots through my foot/leg or hand/arm stiff hands/feetMuscle twitches/spasmsCramps in my legs and feet (kind of feel like a charlie horse in my foot) Weakness in my right leg (hard time walking)Bone pain (feels like my shin and forearm are being split in half) A ton of pressure type of *pain* in my head/neck Those are just some of them to give you a little bit to go on….If you know of any kind of disease/disorder that goes along with all of these symptoms other than MS please let me know? I have a dr’s appointment on Tues and Im trying to get as much info as possible so im not completely shell shocked if the dr tells me something im not expecting Thanks in advance, and please don’t tell me You need to see a dr or why havent you seen one yet because I did go to the er a little while ago because of my extreme fatigue and now I have my follow up with my dr on tues.
A: I have MS and was told, recently, that I might have Devic’s Syndrome/ Neuro Optica Myelitis, which has a worse prognosis. Luckily I don’t.Brain Tumor, Lyme Diseases, Guillian Barre’s Syndrome, Lupus, Transverse Myelitis. Tertiary Syphilis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are among the differential diagnoses.I hope that it turns out to be a minor problem, easily treated.
