Are these low in iron symptoms? Please help?
Q: I asked this question before, but i really need more answers, I have also tried to provide more information so you can give a opinion on what is wrong with me.I am fourteen and I have been feeling so tired for the past three weeks. One week it got so bad, i spent only two days at school. I felt so out of it. I feel so tired, like “Out of body” tired. Its so bad, i can’t cope. Its also ruining my lifestyle. I am a fairly athletic person and i can’t go for my jog or anything, because i don’t have any energy. I always feel depersonalized and its annoying. The question is why? I go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 7am. I don’t drink caffeine, because i hate soft drink. So i am sleeping fine, just wake up feeling like i got none. What should i do? I don’t feel awake. I keep shutting my eyes. Its ruining my life. I can’t be stuffed sleeping, i want to live life.I think i am dying or suffering from a bad disease. I’m scared i have cancer or brain tumours. I hate doctors too. My mom said i could get some blood tests done. My mom has low in iron which makes her tired all the time. She has to take tablets. The thing is. I hate meat. I only eat meat if it is in lasagna. I hate roast beef, lamb ect. I don’t even like sausages, but i eat hotdogs. I am surprised i haven’t been diagnosed with low in iron. I don’t eat any fruit, I know its silly, but i hate fruit. I drink apple juice and smoothies, but thats about it. Can this effect my iron levels. If i am anemic, why didn’t it happen ages ago? I never liked fruit from as long as i remember. I can’t really remember eating a lot of meat. Please help, do you think I have it?What should i do, before i get a proper diagnosis?Help am i dying?Should i take some of my mom’s iron tablets, or do i need to be prescribed on something first? Thanks in advance.I take multivitamins, if that helps.
A: CALM DOWN HONEY!!you are not dying. you dont have brain cancer because you would have constant migraines. you very well could be low on iron. however, i am extremely low on iron and i dont have to sleep THAT much. You should go to your doctor and get some tests done.you really need to start eating more fruits and stuff too. its really great you dont drink soft drinks, but you need to have a balanced diet to have a healthy life. never take something that has not been prescribed to you. if your mom offers them, dont take them. i know you want to listen to your mom but one of my friends took something her mom gave her and as a result, she died. no lie. unless your mom is a doctor or pharmacist, she doesnt know what could happen.just calm down. i highly doubt you are going to die. but like i said, you do sound like something is going on whether that be low iron or something else. you should go get some blood tests done and talk to your mom.i didnt really help, im just trying to make you feel better. but hopefully i helped you feel at ease though.
Am I anemic, are these symptoms?

Why do i feel like this all of a sudden? If it is anemic, why didn’t it happen ages ago. I have never really been a big meat eater.I also don’t eat any fruit.. if that matters.
A: What you are describing sounds like a few possible conditions, which are much more likely than cancer or a brain tumor.1- Anemia. Especially if you mother is anemic, you probably are too. There is no “normal” time for anemia to show up. Pretty much everybody is anemic at some point in their lives. You can try taking a gentle iron supplement and see if your feelings improve. Also, red meat isn’t the only source of natural dietary iron, fish is a great source.2- Vitamin B12 deficiency. This can be caused by quite a few underlying problems from a simple dietary imbalance to a tapeworm (highly unlikely). B12 is like your energy vitamin. You can also try taking some B12 supplements and see if you improve.3-Unbalanced diet. You are young and growing, and from the sounds of it are picky and don’t eat a balanced diet. Food is your fuel for energy, so you need to eat the right fuel to get good results. Try to find some fruits and veggies you like and eat at least some every day. They are also a good source of that B12 I was talking about. You should have a little of everything; meats, fruits, veggies and grains each day.A quick trip to your doctor and a prick in the arm can tell you a whole lot, which is what I suggest you do.

A: You aren’t dying. You’re anemic. If you are going to not eat meat, take iron supplements. They can taste bad and make your breath taste bloody, but if you aren’t taking in meat, it’s worth the annoyance. If you continue to deprive yourself of iron, you can and will be hospitalized. Have your school nurse check your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels.
