My 4 year old is sick!! RSV?
Q: Okay.. I know a lot of people will say a 4 year old is to old for rsv but that’s not true! It’s currently spreading through my town like crazy and even adults have it! So here’s the deal… My son was born a month pre mature and was on oxygen for having a wet lung. He’s had the flu countless times, bronchitis twice and pneumonia! He also has an RAD..( respiratory airway disease), He has had a tiny cough for 2 days now and today he was playing outside and started coughing and threw up! He took a few bites of food and threw up and has been ever since! He has a fever of 102 that I cant break! He’s coughing like crazy and its deep and wet! The Dr, said I cant do anything about it till tomorrow! Does this sound like RSV to you or what? Please help! I’m terrified!!
A: Even if your son has RSV it probably won’t harm him. For babies with small lungs the large amount of mucus produced by RSV is what the worry is all about. At the age of 4 your son’s lungs would be capable of handling it. So please don’t worry. Just keep him comfortable and take him to the doctor tomorrow.
