In 1964 Roger Corman made a classic horror film called the same. Poe had written the short story in 1842.The story is set in a semi-mythic Medieval Europe. While during this ball the Prince happened to notice a mysterious hooded stranger dressed all in red. The prince thinking it might be his “master” satan so the Prince introduces himself but not to his “master” so do speak but to the Red Death himself. This is to remind people that “Man makes his own God or own Devil and that Prosperos soul has been dead for yrs.
