10 Christmas DVD Gift Ideas

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2′ – DVD and Blu-ray

The biggest film franchise ever came to an end this year and, thankfully, the finale was a belter. A monstrous gift-set with all eight films is also available.

‘The Lion King’ – DVD and Blu-ray

Disney only give their best films a limited run on DVD, so pick up one of their finest (and most profitable) efforts while you can.

‘Senna’ – DVD and Blu-ray

Superb documentary about possibly the most gifted race driver of all time, who’s life was tragically cut short in a crash. One for the dads.

‘The Inbetweeners’ – DVD and Blu-ray

One of few British comedy shows to have successfully recreated the magic on the big screen. There’s risqué humour through-out, so don’t watch with your Nan.

‘Star Wars: The Complete Saga’ – Blu-ray

The epic trilogy finally came to Blu-ray this year. The huge box-set contains all six films on high-def, plus hours of extras. Fast-forward through the Jar Jar Binks bits.

‘Bridesmaids’ – DVD and Blu-ray

On paper this could have been a by-numbers chick flick, but in practice it was probably the funniest (and sickest) film of the year.

‘Stanley Kubrick: Visionary Filmmaker Collection’ – Blu-ray

Contains most of the master director’s classic films in high-def, including ‘A Clockwork Orange’, ‘The Shining’ and ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. A must for film fans.

‘Back to the Future Trilogy’ – Blu-ray and DVD

Nothing beats a bit of ‘Back to the Future’ at Christmas, which makes this bumper box-set the perfect stocking filler.

‘X-Men: First Class’ – DVD and Blu-ray

Despite a troubled production history, this emerged as the best comic book movie of 2011 and breathed new into the ‘X-Men’ franchise.

Cars 2 – DVD and Blu-ray

It’s not one of Pixar’s better efforts, but still a top notch – and gorgeous-looking – ‘toon that’ll keep the family happy on boxing day.
