Dying is just like taxes in the respect that it is going to happen to you and me. Over history, we realize it doesn’t matter who you are, you are going to face death. Famous people have no secret weapon against death. They are just like you and I. They will die. We will die. Death is a part of life. However, many of us look forward to eternal life in Heaven. After we all pass from this world, I hope to meet each one of you in a better place called Heaven.

What Happened Today in History?

1789 The United States Department of War first establishes a regular army with a group of several hundred men.

1916 John D. Rockefeller becomes the first billionaire in America

1951 The first live sporting event seen coast-to-coast in the United States, a college football game between Duke and the University of Pittsburgh, is televised on NBC

1966 The Chevrolet Camaro, originally named Panther, is introduced.

1996 The Nintendo 64 gaming console was released in North America

2011 The Tampa Bay Rays win 8-7 over the New York Yankees after trailing 7-0 through seven innings. The Boston Red Sox lose 4-3 to the Baltimore Orioles after giving up two runs in the 9th. Tampa Bay completes the biggest comeback in Major League Baseball history and Boston’s collapse is complete.

1934-2005 Austin Leslie, American chef, the “Godfather of Fried Chicken”

1981-2006 Michael A. Monsoor, a United States Navy SEAL killed in Iraq and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor

1925-2010 Tony Curtis, American Actor
