Famous Sports Couples in Honor of Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day approaching, there is a lot of talk about who in the celeb world is still coupled up and going strong.

As evidenced by a recently crumbled 72-day marriage, you may have heard something about not all couples stay together for years. Due to busy schedules and conflicts, Cupid can be especially harsh on those in the sports and entertainment industry.

However, there are some famous sports couples who have been thriving despite some who initially faced doubts that they wouldn’t make it past the first year.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom

Despite the couple dating for only a month before getting married in September 2009, they’re still together and have been trying to have a baby. The couple has been in the spotlight since the beginning; their wedding was even on an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”. The reality TV princess and the forward with the Dallas Mavericks have their own show “Khloe & Lamar” and refer to themselves as “Team K&L”. They’re openly supportive of each other, and even when they’re separated due to work schedules, they keep the romance alive by talking often via Skype and phone.

David and Victoria Beckham

The Los Angeles Galaxy soccer star and former Spice Girl were married in 1999 in Dublin and have thrived despite being in the public eye. They reportedly owe much of the success of their marriage, even through rumors, to the fact that they both actually try to make it work. The gorgeous and stylish couple has passed on their good genes to their four kids, the youngest of which was born in July 2011.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen

One of the best looking and most famous sports couples, the New England Patriots quarterback married the stunning model in February 2009 just one month after getting engaged. They had a child together, Benjamin, in 2009.

The couple was recently thrown even more into the headlines thanks to Super Bowl XLVI. Gisele sent a private email to family and friends asking for prayers for her husband for the big game and, in what’s not really a big surprise, it got leaked to the press. After the Giants beat the Patriots 21-17 on Feb. 5 in the Super Bowl, she was seen comforting her husband afterward.

Hank Baskett and Kendra Wilkinson

The Playboy playmate married the football player in June 2009 at the Playboy Mansion while she was pregnant with their first child. The former “Girls Next Door” reality star and the wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings have definitely had their ups and downs like any couple, but one big difference thus far is that they refuse to use the word “divorce” because of the effect it can have on their relationship. They’ve remained strong despite being in the public eye while being a feature on her reality show “Kendra”.

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler

The couple hasn’t been together for long, but their ups and downs during their time together has thrust them into the headlines. The reality starlet and Chicago Bears quarterback started dating in September 2010, got engaged in April 2011, then called off the engagement in July 2011 days after she did a wedding dress shoot with Life & Style. They got back together in November 2011 and in January 2012 announced that they’re expecting their first child together. Phew!
