Goodyear, Arizona – a Perfect MLB Spring Training Home

Chances are that if you are planning a trip to Goodyear, Arizona you are not hoping for city lights and wall-to-wall people. Good thing because you will not get any of that in Goodyear. You will get quiet nights and you will encounter calm and relaxed people. My family had a wonderful time making Goodyear our home during our MLB Spring Training vacation. Here are some of the venues that made our trip great.

Goodyear Ballpark
Address: 1933 S. Ballpark Way
Phone Number: (623) 882-3120
Price: (as low as) $8 for adults and $4 for children; up to two kids under two-years old are free.

While our home team does not make Goodyear their home, they still play at this intimate ball park. Compared to some of the other Cactus League spring training stadiums this park is very pleasant to drive to and park near. Like most of the Cactus League ballparks, the Goodyear Ballpark offers a grassy area that is perfect for kids who don’t like to be confined in a bleacher seat. I would actually pay more for this type of seating but luckily for my family, these are the cheapest seats in the house.

Destiny Phoenix RV Resort
Address: 416 North Citrus Road
Phone Number: (623) 853-0537, toll free (888) 667-2454
Price: $38 a day

We made reservations to this RV park because it allowed dogs, was close to our family, and it was located within 30 miles of all the ball parks we were planning on visiting. This RV resort ended up being the highlight of our trip. The resort features a big, beautiful pool that our kids loved to cool off in every afternoon. My husband and I enjoyed the hot tub after dinner. The resort not only allowed dogs but it featured a modest-sized dog run area and nourished a dog-friendly atmosphere. This resort provided an affordable and comfortable place to call home during our vacation.

The Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium
Address: 16501 W. Northern Avenue (this is in Litchfield Park, just north of Goodyear)
Phone Number: (623) 935-5692
Price: $27.50 (Adults), $14.50 (Children 3-12), and children under 2 are free.
Hours: 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium provides an exotic yet peaceful zoo experience. Unlike most zoos, the Wildlife World Zoo is not planted in pavement. The exhibits are nestled in a combination of grass, dirt, and palm trees. It was a toss-up between the petting zoo and the African Train Ride that made the day at this zoo most memorable to my kids.

Roscoe Dog Park
Address: 15600 W. Roeser Rd.
Phone Number: (623) 932-3910 (City of Goodyear)
Hours: dawn to dusk
Price: Free

We travel with our dog so the dog park was a daily must for us. Located near the Southwest part of town, we did have to drive ten minutes to get there from our RV Resort but it was worth the short drive. It consists of two, fully-fenced areas, one for shy-dogs and one for social-dogs. It had several covered areas and drinking fountains for humans and it has drinking fountains for dogs.
