Honey Dew Donuts Provides Delicious Autumn Flavors

Autumn, like any other season, has its own sights, smells, tastes, sounds, and feel. As you treasure this time before it becomes too cold to enjoy a stroll at the park; you may want to try something different from the standard routine.

With three Dunkin’ Donuts in Montville (and another slated to open in the highway rest area by 2013), I decided to take a trip up north on I-395 to try out a different coffee and pastry shop.

Honey Dew Donuts is located in Plainfield at 56 Lathrop Road. It is nestled inside a Shell convenience store off I-395 exit 87, featuring dine-in, take out, and drive-thru service. It was the former home of a Tim Horton’s. Their restaurant is in the same building as a Domino’s Pizza and is adjacent to a Wendy’s.

Donuts, coffee, pizza, hamburgers, and frosty ice cream; it’s amazingly all within walking distance of each other.

Honey Dew Donuts is not far from the nearby bustling Lisbon Landing, Lisbon Crossing, andGriswold shopping centers located off exits 84 and 85.

Their restaurant is also convenient for folks driving from eastern Connecticut toward Providence using I-395 North to Route 6 East.

While Honey Dew opened several months ago, this blogger decided to check out their special selections for the fall season.

Scarecrows, ghosts, pumpkins, and other decorations greet visitors as they step up to make their selection. It has a very homey atmosphere. There are several tables and chairs encouraging customers to relax and enjoy what Honey Dew calls the “local flavor”.

I had the caramel apple coffee with a cranberry apple stick. They make a good combination, both equally as delicious. The cranberry apple stick was slightly sweeter than the coffee. I also enjoyed the pumpkin muffins. These are the most delicious freshest pumpkin muffins I’ve ever tasted.

Food selections at Honey Dew consist of bagel sandwiches, bagels, breakfast sandwich wraps, cookies, croissant sandwiches, dew drops, english muffin sandwiches, international breakfast sandwiches, muffins, and pastries.

Other autumn selections include pumpkin spice coffee, hot apple cider, apple cider donuts, and cinnamon apple bark donuts.

Their yearround hot and iced coffee flavors include blueberry, chocolate raspberry, cinnamon, cinnamon hazelnut, coconut, french vanilla, hawaiian chocolate nut, hawaiian rum, hazelnut, Irish Cream, kaluah, mudslide, toasted almond, and vanilla hazelnut.

Additionally, Honey Dew has smoothies, cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, and teas.

A stop at Honey Dew is a great treat while leaf peeping or after a day of shopping.

Those along the shoreline can enjoy Honey Dew Donuts at three locations in Westerly, R.I.

They are located at 107 Franklin Street (across from J.C. Penney and Shaw’s), 240 Post Road (near Wal-Mart and Benny’s), and 25 Wells Street (inside the Westerly Hospital).

The Franklin Street location features a drive-thru while the other two do not.

These autumn selections are available for a limited time only.
